Entrepreneur Kirsty Henshaw not only slayed the Dragons but has just opened her first allergen free factory to manufacture her Kirsty’s free from meals in Yorkshire.
Today is 10 years to the day since Kirsty Henshaw first appeared (and cried) on Dragons’ Den. Her pitch is considered to be one of the most emotive of all the pitches ever.
Kirsty went on to work with Peter and Duncan for three amazing years before she bought back the equity.
She says “Going on Dragons’ Den was scary, but I knew my business inside out and I was so passionate about making it work, that I think that just took over,” she said.
“Securing the funding for a dairy and nut-free frozen desserts company and working with Peter Jones and Duncan Bannatyne was a dream come true.”
Today she and her team open their very own allergen free manufacturing site which will take her ‘Kirsty’s’ business from £10m to another level. Kirsty is so proud of everyone’s efforts especially throughout lockdown. She says, “I couldn’t be more grateful to the amazing team I’ve brought in! “.
Kirsty’s speeches are so incredibly powerful. She has overcome so many hurdles to get to where she is today. And her son, for whom she first made the free from allergens ice cream, when he was poorly baby is hugely proud of his mum’s success.
In April 2020 Kirsty donated over 7,000 of her ready meals to feed vulnerable and self-isolating people affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
